Six miles north of Lake Tahoe at Truckee, CA, Northstar offers something for everyone. The resort includes four main ski areas: Mount Pluto, the Northwest Territory, the Backside and Lookout Mountain. Northstar at Tahoe also features an assortment of snowboarding terrain parks filled with jumps, hips, rails and boxes plus a 400-foot superpipe. It offers ski and snowboarding schools for first-timers and an ice-skating facility in the resort village. There's a 25-mile cross-country ski and snowshoe trail system, plus a tubing center and adventure parks for the kids. This resort is 40 miles from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
